Scar Revision Photos - Case #3918

< >

B: This young man sustained superficial and deep second-degree burns to his chest and abdomen. Despite compressive garments, he developed hypertrophic scars long after leaving the hospital. These scars were itchy, painful and disfiguring.

A: A two-stage process was performed. First his scars were removed and then a new “dermal” layer was applied. Two weeks later, a thin skin graft was placed on the new collagen. Only six months after surgery, his symptoms are better and he does not have a return of the hypertrophic scars. His scars will improve in appearance over time.
